Push It to the Limit: Android on the iPhone

April 25, 2010

It’s always interesting to see what people will do just because they can. It is especially interesting when people apply this attitude to technology because it leads to some pretty cool stuff.

Almost everyone knows what jailbreaking an iPhone is. That stuff is child’s play compared to what this dude did. This guy hacked his iPhone to run Android! Do you realize how crazy that is? He got a competitors phone OS to work completely on Apple’s device. That is insanity and it looks like it took a hell of a lot of work. Check out this video of him showing it off. It is highly informative, even if it is a little long:

Dope, right? If you want to try it yourself, you can check out this website (http://www.taranfx.com/android-on-iphone) that gives you a detailed guide as to how to do it.

It currently can only be done on a 2G iPhone and you need to be able to run linux on your computer in order to set it up. Still, if you have the resources, try it out.

Also, check out the dude who did it’s blog (http://linuxoniphone.blogspot.com/). It’s a great read to see how some of these things work.

Does anyone have a 2G iPhone I can borrow?
